“My son says he doesn’t need to go to school because he wants to become a YouTuber.”
Here’s my response to the son on making a career choice:
Dear young person,
It’s understandable that you may be interested in pursuing a career as a YouTuber, but you need to understand that education is still crucial for success in any field.
Firstly, a good education can provide you with the foundational knowledge and skills to create and produce high-quality content. Skills like writing, communication, and critical thinking, are all essential for your YouTube career, but you need an education to develop these skills.
While it’s true that some YouTubers have achieved great success without formal education, it’s necessary to understand that these individuals are often the exception rather than the rule. The most successful digital entrepreneurs have a combination of talent, hard work, and education to thank for their success.
Here’s what we can do: we can work out a plan for you to continue attending school and pursuing your interests in YouTube as a hobby or side project.
You can continue to hone your skills and build your audience while, at the same time, working towards a solid education that will provide you with a solid foundation for success in any field you choose to pursue in the future.
